The Feminism We All Need

Today marks the 120th death aniversary of the lady whom we all look down as an inspiration, Savitribai Phule an Indian social reformer and poet.She played a very significant role in improving women’s rights in India during the Colonial rule.Through her poetry ,she potrayed the prevailing discrimnation in the society and the need to get educated.Her books Kavya Phule and Bavan Kashi Subodh Ratnakar were posthumously published.She died from plague on 10th March 1897.


Her influence on the society :

Savitribai along with her husband founded the first girl’s school at Bhide Wada in Pune

She fought against caste and gender discrimnation prevailing then

She was also the first Female teacher of India

The Government of Maharashtra commemorates women social reformers with an award , after her name.

The legacy left behind , will always remain in our hearts.
