Yogi: As it is

How the Media moves through generations:-

Earlier Vajpayee was called an extremist – Morarji bhai was okay.
Then Advani was termed as an extremist – Vajpayee was okay.
Then Modi was termed as an extremist – Advani became okay
Today Yogi Adityanath is the new extremist – Modi is now okay.

Ajay Singh Bisht (before renunciation), popularly known as Yogi Adityanath is a 5 time consecutive winner of the Parliamentary seat of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He is also the Mahant of the famous Gorakhnath Temple and Math which gave the town of Gorakhpur its name. The temple is managed by both Hindus and Muslims and every year in January, the Gorakhnath temple becomes a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity during the Sankranti Khichdi Parv.

Yogi Adityanath’s father was a forest ranger in Garhwal region of modern day Uttarakhand, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics before renouncing his family and becoming a sanyasi.

He belongs to the ‘Nath Sampradaya’ lineage of Mahants, one of whom, Mahant, Digvijay Nath played an active role in the Chauri Chaura incident and was responsible for the placement of Ram Lalla idols in Babri Masjid in 1949. Yogi Adityanath has been a vocal proponent of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and is seen as a polarising figure.

Whatever tag one may give to him, he’s definitely not a stooge helicoptered by a high command to power. He doesn’t have a popular surname, a politically beneficial caste, nor does he have a son or daughter to handover his ‘cycle’ to.

He is an ambitious figure with mass support, who definitely doesn’t want his current chair to become the highest point of his career and life – He wants to go higher. And here exactly lies the possibility of him becoming the best thing that happened to UP in decades.

The only way the 21st Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath can rise higher than where he is today, would be performance.

To become the next Narendra Modi, he would have to wear blinders and perform just like Narendra Modi the Chief Minister. He would have to drop his polarising diatribe and become a uniting force instead who brings jobs and opportunities to everyone without discrimination – Minimum Government – Maximum Governance. And yes, he will also have to mellow down his speeches which made him famous in the national media.

He would have to raise his saffron sleeves and get down to bring electricity to every village, connect every tehsil with a proper road infrastructure and stifle the bureaucracy, attracting manufacturing and service industries to Noida and Lucknow, Creating export hubs in Kanpur and Bareilly and perhaps an new industrial corridor around the Delhi-Agra Yamuna Expressway.

He can only move up in life by first becoming the Chief Servant of ‘all’ the people of UP across caste, creed and religion and bring an all round development which doesn’t require full page ads in the newspapers to get talked about.

Case in point: His first statement to media after taking oath as the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh: “I will focus and ensure an all round development in the state. People in Uttar Pradesh want development and security without discrimination.”

I rest my case with lots of hope and crossed fingers.
