Gone But Never Forgotten

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam , the 11th president of India was in actuality more than just the president of India . He was a man with impeccable vision . He was the man who inspired a billion Indians and reinstated hope in them . His journey of life is nothing short of legendary for every being on earth. The Career Scientist turned Statesman , often called The Missile Man of India , was born and raised in Rameshwaram , Tamil Nadu . After studying physics and aerospace engineering at Madras Institute of Technology Shri Kalam wished to join the Indian Airforce but was rejected because he was born to shine . Later he joined Defence Research and Development Organisation , DRDO , Government of India’s chief scientific research organisation and went on spending the next four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the DRDO and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and was intimately involved in India’s civilian space programme and military missile development efforts. He also played a pivotal organisational, technical, and political role in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, the first since the original nuclear test by India in 1974. The then Vajpayee Government in order pay gratitude at the services he rendered to the nation , made him their presidential candidate in 2002 after the mighty man retired from his services . As a president he went on setting examples , touring the remotest places of India , inspiring and interacting with his countrymen . Such was his simplicity that even after retiring as the First Citizen Of India , he donated his pension , lived in a simple apartment and owned nothing apart from books , pen , a diary and two pair of clothes . Such was his ostentatious simplicity . He famously had once said that the teacher in him can never die and if one profession he would choose again and again it would be that of a teacher . And the teacher of a life time finally left us yearning for more pearls from the sea of knowledge that he possessed on 27th July 2015 .

Leaving us parched for more knowledge and path bearing .
